Data-driven scaling

Shedd is an app-only marketplace where women can buy and sell pre-loved fashion: apparel, accessories, bags, shoes, jewellery and more – ranging from top notch designer items to high street brands. The app was launched in September 2015 in the United Arab Emirates, after a $1M investment from Dubizzle, the UAE classifieds leader.

BLOOM supported Shedd in a Business Intelligence role during the first few months after launch: providing relevant data-driven insights in order to shape the product and marketing roadmap; focusing only on growth initiatives with highest impact and priority. The work included:

  • creating a growth/revenue model;
  • setting up a way of working for user tests;
  • building a sustainable analytics infrastructure;
  • structural dashboards and ad hoc analyses on user acquisition and retention;
  • improving customer lifecycle management.

During the project Shedd has shown over-target growth: 300% increase in number of daily sellers and products listed, as well as a 3x rise in active user retention. The user engagement level is unprecedented in the classifieds world and explains why Shedd is now the most active fashion marketplace in the UAE. Shedd Bulgaria was launched in April and the rest of the world is yet to be conquered.

BLOOM are always the smartest guys in the room; fast, accurate, driven and relentless. They find business relevant insights, communicate them clearly and are able to action and execute, not just ‘consult’. Always a pleasure.
