Starting this week, Daan Alkemade has joined BLOOM as an intern.
Daan finished his BSc Mechanical Engineering at Delft University of Technology last summer. While on exchange at the National University of Singapore, he experienced data science for the first time. His BSc thesis had the practical implementation of learning a robot to independently locate an object in a physical environment, which required learning a state representation from high dimensional sensor data.
Wishing to see what’s out there, Daan continued with an internship at Adyen, a fast-growing company that handles global payments for companies like Netflix and Uber. Here, Daan worked on the automation of quality control of physical PIN devices using 17 robots.
Meanwhile, Daan also worked part-time at the student-run strategy consultant De Kleine Consultant. One of his projects there concerned the international expansion of a healthcare technology company. He wrapped up his time at De Kleine Consultant with the development of a growth strategy for a data-driven technology startup.
In the coming months, Daan will combine his passions for data science and strategy consulting as an intern at BLOOM.
